DW5600E-1V Negative Display Conversion

I woke up early this morning at around 9 o’clock this morning (HA! Early…) to work on a “negative display conversion” for my DW5600E. I recently picked up the 5600 off of eBay for $25 which I thought was a pretty good deal. This time around, the disassembly of the G-Shock was a breeze. The spring bars took less than a minute to get off, so I must be getting good at this 😉 Anyways I ended up taping the Real 3D movie theater lens (instead of purchasing polarizing film) onto the glass of the case, not putting it on the actual module since it wasn’t adhesive. I encountered the most problems when I was reassembling the watch. The buttons would not align correctly so half the time 3 of the buttons would work, then the last button would be unresponsive. I eventually did get them to align correctly and put the watch back together again. The attempt wast (sorta) successful because I didn’t ruin the watch, but the display now is hard to see unless I hit the EL light button, but that’s not too bad (the camera actually makes the display 1,000x easier to see). All in all, it was a fun mod to do even though it got a little frustrating once in a while. If you’re looking to do this mod on one of your G-Shocks check out bfgreen’s tutorial here.

RIT Dye Project: BG3000 Scarlet

Here’s a few pics of my latest G-Shock project. I dyed a Baby-G I got from eBay for a great price, it was just a “dye test” because I wasn’t sure how it’d turn out. The pictures make the watch look an orange jelly, but it’s actually a really deep “jolly rancher” red. Just imagine a cherry jolly rancher and you have the exact color. Overall, I’m very happy with the results of this project! The G-Shock WIKI tutorial is located here with easy step by step instructions if you’d like to do this project yourself.

Casio G-Shock NATO Strap Conversion [Video] Tutorial

By fwupow

A very helpful tutorial video for those of you looking to using a Nato/Zulu strap on your Gs instead of the original resin band. Even if you don’t plan on converting to a different strap, the beginning of the video shows you how to use a spring bar removal tool to remove the straps if you’re planning on disassembling a G.
